The prefectures of Yamanashi and Shizuoka have established a charter and bylaws outlining the attitudes, basic mindset, and initiatives that should be observed in order to ensure that not only public authorities and private businesses but also all individuals become actively involved in the conservation of Fujisan.
In 1998, the prefectures of Yamanashi and Shizuoka established the Fujisan Charter for the purpose of ensuring that Fujisan is passed on to future generations not only as a national asset but also as a world-class symbol of Japan.

In March 2015, the prefectures of Yamanashi and Shizuoka enacted the Basic Regulations for the Fujisan World Heritage Site to comprehensively promote measures for conserving Fujisan and to ensure that its outstanding universal value is passed on to future generations.
